St. John’s Wort, Valerian, and Passionflower for “nervous agitation” in children

This week, let’s dive into a compelling German study on a triple herbal blend with St. John’s Wort, Valerian, and Passionflower for “nervous agitation” in children.

Study Highlights:

  • Sample Size: 115 children aged 6-12 participated in this study, conducted by 17 physicians.
  • Improvements: A clear improvement was reported in 86.7% of the children. Symptoms like attention problems, anxiety/depression, and social withdrawal showed marked improvement in 61-87% of cases.
  • Parent Feedback: A significant 46.1% of parents chose to continue the herbal treatment post-study due to its positive effects.

Cool Findings:

  • The combination of St. John’s Wort, Valerian, and Passionflower significantly reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression.
  • Parents reported substantial improvements in their children’s behavior, with many moving from “abnormal” to “normal” assessments by the study’s end.
  • The study also noted that 97.4% of children tolerated the treatment well, with only minor adverse effects reported.
